    Message From the Principal...

    Parents and Students:

Papillion-La Vista High School will be hosting the District Music Contest on April 18th and 19th.  There will be a large number of students from Metro area schools here on Friday, April 18th and Saturday, April 19th.  District music students will be using the entire building so only those students who are involved in District music will be in attendance on April 18th.

Parents, if your student is not involved in District music we would encourage you to set up college visits, doctor’s appointments, and dentist appointments on the 18th.

Decisions for your child’s future are important.  Whether you decide to go to college, a community college or technical school, enter the military, or join the work force immediately after high school you will need to be able to think critically, solve mathematical problems, operate computers, work in teams with others, understand political processes, appreciate other cultures, and be scientifically literate.  The fact is, students who do not go on to college have even more reason to get the highest quality high school education they can because they will depend on their high school transcripts to get good jobs.

The most important factor for your success in college will be the classes you take in high school and the grades you earn.  The best single predictor of success on college entrance exams is the number of challenging, college-preparatory course in English and mathematics a student takes.  And, the best single predictor of success in college is the student’s high school grade point average.

The opportunities you take advantage of today will unlock the doors of tomorrow.  Every choice you make affects the paths that will be available to you later.

    Educationally yours,

    James C. Glover

    Principal
