Parents and Students:
Soon the class selection process for the next year will begin. I know it seems early, but we must start to prepare as to where our staff needs might be for the 2009-2010 school year. Students; as you work with your parents to build your schedule, choose classes that will be challenging and that will prepare you for the future. If you have completed our math or science requirements, take another one. Remember our graduation reguirements, are set so that you need 45 credits to graduate. Please understand that 45 credits are the minimum and you could earn a possible 56 credits or more if you challenge yourself.
Parents, I truly believe that we are setting students up for failure if we don’t work together and encourage or demand that they challenge themselves. With the addition of the Classroom Plus activities that we have added over the last few years, there is no reason that a student would not be able to get the help needed to be successful in any class they take.
If you are a Sophomore this year, you need to know that as a Junior you will not be allowed to have a release. This is a change from past years and taking the release away is being done so that you will have the opportunity to broaden your academic challenges.
Just a reminder, conferences will be February 16, 2009 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. We are only having conferences one time this semester so teachers will be expected to communicate with you via phone and computer about the progress of your son or daughter.
Educationally yours,
James C. Glover
Principal
