Papillion La Vista & Papillion La Vista South will no longer have sport physicals at the school!

Effective for the 2008-09 sports year, the Papillion-La Vista School District, in partnership with Alegent Health Midlands Hospital, is changing the way sports physicals are conducted.The goal is to provide a sound physical evaluation of the athlete, emphasizing safe participation.The new physicals will take place at Alegent Health Midlands Hospital instead of the high schools.They will also need to be scheduled in advance. The cost of the physicals will remain the same.Designated days for Papillion-La Vista students are listed below. The forms for the physical are available from this blog, oryou will be able to get the forms from the athletic office.If your son or daughter would like to participate in sports, he or she must complete a sports physical.Reminder:If you choose to use your own doctor, please remember to use the appropriate forms.

Here are the DATES for Pre-Participation Exams/Physicals to be held at the new Midlands O/P/Cardiac Rehab/Wellness Center:

COST OF PHYSICAL is: $15 per athlete

Wednesday, July 23, 2008 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Saturday, July 26, 2008 9:00-1:00 p.m.

Wednesday, July 30, 2008 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Saturday, August 2, 2008 9:00-1:00 p.m.

They will sign up 20-30 athletes per 30-minute time slot. For example:

6:00-6:30-20-30 athletes

6:30-7:00-20-30 athletes

7:00-7:30-20-30 athletes

7:30-8:00-20-30 athletes, etc…we would take our last 20 athletes from 8:30-9:00 p.m.

The new Physical Form for 2008-09 is attached. This form must be used for all sports physicals whether at Alegent Health Midlands or your own health care provider.

At PLHS, we are proud of our tradition of excellence in activities and athletics and look forward to building on that in the future.  We are excited about the facilities upgrades that will accompany our other improvements for the 2008-09 and coming school years.  Specifically, we will be installing FieldTurf on the southeast practice field (along with stadium seating), stadium seating on the northeast field (track stadium), outdoor restroom facilities and storage and eventually (2009 school year) seating inside the pool area.  There are several smaller renovations which will contribute to an overall enhanced activities/athletic facility at PLHS.  We are proud of our 32 state championships and 22 runner up finishes.  Our school competes in Class A (highest classification), and we offer a full complement of programs which compete as a member of the Metropolitan (Omaha) Conference and within the Nebraska Schools Activities Association.  Our athletic philosophy is embodied by the slogan “Power of We”, meaning that we encourage students to compete in several sports and activities.

Our coaches, sponsors, parents and athletes are working together to maintain a competitive overall program.“Tradition Never Graduates” is not just a tee shirt design – it is a powerful statement about what we believe at Papillion La Vista High School.
